A Quick intro…
Hi hi. I was given the name Michael, but tend to use Tadpol instead. (God only knows why.) Sometimes I wonder if I should say anything important here. Other times I think it would be best if I said nothing at all. However, if I am to say nothing at all there would not be much point in having a web site. I like having a web site, so I feel that I must strive to have something to say. Thus I find that I am often saying nothing, but with a great deal many more words than nothing really deserves.
Some Things Said…
I’ve been using ESPHome for a while now to create custom home automation devices that integrate seamlessly with Home Assistant. ESPHome allows you to write simple (or sometimes not) YAML configuration files to define the behavior of your devices, making it easy to add things to your smart home setup.
I wanted a quick glance of some of the data I have collected in Home Assistant on my iPhone. Widgets are the way to go with this. I had some time ago played with a custom widget for weather data using Scriptable. So I dug into adapting that to get its data from my Home Assistant instead of from WunderGround.
Home Assistant had added energy monitoring some revisions ago. Which nicely plopped one more ting on my want to do list. Oddly enough, the easiest thing to add was the gas meter.
Collecting the tech used to monitor a cactus. (First post in six years. 😳 so out of practice…)
I had held the bits to the cup with hot glue. And next to the hot coffee, the glue would get soft, not melt, but soft. So it sagged.
